on the road again

We have eaten our body weight in granola bars and trail mix. And thank god we packed a giant bag of apples from the farm! It has saved us.

Between awesome rainbows and beautiful farm country the road trip is going well so far. We take a bunch of extra pit stops so Henry can stretch his legs and run around.

We tried to push as far as Chicago last night but we were all feeling really drained and just wanted a cold beer and hot food.

We pulled off the highway in South Bend Indiana and promptly found an Irish pub that was still open. Gotta love a good college town! Taylor and I ordered our beers within two seconds of walking through the doors. We were in survival mode at that point! Sixteen hours of driving is exhausting.

We each had two beers and hot food. It was just what the doctor ordered. We left the pub and pulled into our home for the night.

We got a few hours of sleep and hit the road bright and early this morning. The weather has been awesome and the drive is so picturesque. What a beautiful country we live in ( minus some irritating billboards!) hoping to shack up in western south Dakota tonight. See you all from Montana tomorrow!

Where’s Henry when you have dinner? Maybe he’s good just dozing in the truck. BTW, it sounds like Motel 6 is pet-friendly. What other lodging have you found that welcomes dogs? Safe travels!

  2. Love your posts! I feel like I’m traveling cross country with you! Sounds like you’ll be going through some more beautiful states! Have fun & drive safely! xo
