rain rain go away

Yesterday was blue skies.

It was lovely.

We were able to roll up the row cover off the strawberries. And guess what…..they are starting to turn red!!!! Woot-woot!!!

That S.O.B. is one heavy piece of material.  It was bigger than me! Not a pretty task.  Thank god it’s over with.  And thank god we have beautiful strawberries growing!  Hard work really pays off.

However, this week I am not sure the weather forecast has gotten the memo.  We have a lot of plants that need to get planted and too much rain is never a good thing.

This dreary weather is the pits!

After a grey and miserable day on the farm we did what any normal red-blooded American would do. We drank a glass of red wine to warm up. Followed by a trip into town to do an olive oil and vinegar tasting.

The New England Olive Oil Company rocks!

Olive oil and vinegar tasting is really fun! We tried over 10 different vinegars and over 5 different oils.  They were all really amazing.

Our favorites were the truffle olive oil and blueberry infused vinegar. The truffle oil was a little on the spendy side, so we opted for the blueberry vinegar for a purchase.

Dinner highlighted our new addition.

Quinoa (don’t tell Taylor) with sautéed onions, broccoli, and apples.  All tossed into a bowl with spinach and goat cheese.  Drizzled with a little olive oil, blueberry infused vinegar and toasted walnuts.  Delicious!

Enjoy your evening everyone!

  1. How cool!! the blueberry vinegar sounds amazing and the salad you made looks great!!
I’m with you, truffle oil is definitely a splurge item but it’s so tasty! It only takes a few drops to get that intense truffle flavor, so it’s definitely worth it if you can get it..and it’ll last for a while.
The veggie burgers are right up my alley! I’m going to make them next weekend 🙂 I’ll let you know how they turn out. I think I’ll make some carrot puree tonight!
    xo
    YAY strawberries!
