bison pizza

My day started off like this:

And ended like this:

Let me back this up. We had to use the last of the store-bought dough.  Since I will start making it from scratch.  Plus we could not wait any longer to dive into this:

Thanks to Erika we got to try bison for the first time.  And what did we do with it?  Of course we made a pizza. Correction….Taylor made a pizza.  This pizza was so good, a close second to mine and Erika’s pizza the other night! (okay, it was just as tasty, but very different.)

First things first.  You must slow cook your bison.  He slow cooked it for 6 hours with a can of beer and bbq sauce.

While the meat slow cooked he got working on the dough.

And then the onion.  Which he sautéed in butter and maple syrup. (A trick from me and Erika!)

Blue cheese crumbles and mozzarella.

And a bison pizza is born.   This was awesome.  The combination of the sweet bbq sauce, meat, and blue cheese was delicious.  The blue cheese added a nice kick.  And the meat was out of this world.

Thanks so much Erika for the meat.   Next time I think we are making bison chile.  We still have one more pound of meat left.

Off to start packing.  We leave for Portland, Oregon tomorrow and I am so excited! You all will get to see how the Lieberg’s throw a Thanksgiving feast!  I’m hungry already!

Wow -that looks awesome! That’s the first time “edgley bison” has ever been pizza’ed, so I think it’s safe to say that you can trademark that pie! YUM.

Can’t wait to see pics from T-giving (even though it will probably make me cry to not be there). Safe travels! Love ya.
